Coach McGowan was first introduced to running competitively in high school. He ran cross country and track at North Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. After high school, Mr. McGowan continued to run recreationally in college at Marquette University. Although he has coaching experience in a variety of sports, such as basketball, soccer and baseball, coaching cross country is his favorite.
Coach McGowan has spent the last 17 years teaching at a variety of grade levels (3 years of 5th grade, 7 years of high school special education and 7 years now at Notre Dame Academy). Coach McGowan’s title at NDA is Learning Resource Specialist, in which he supports the learning of all students, especially students with exceptional educational needs.
Coach McGowan has many passions outside of running, from reading to playing the bagpipe, but nothing makes him happier than spending time with his wife and three children; Colin, Sean and Molly.
“NDA is a special, special place for not only myself, but for the entire Green Bay community,” states Coach McGowan. “On top of the terrific sports and academic programs, it is a place that radiates love and compassion for others, which I see each and everyday through the cross country program.”
Coach McGowan looks forward to another successful cross country season and school year. Go Tritons!
