Who Attends: The top 10 runners of each gender from City Meet will compete. The 11th and 12 th runners at City Meet will be alternates and attend the meet. A group of non-competitors will also be invited to attend based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, dedication and performance.

Parents Traveling:    Parents are always encouraged and welcome to stay at the team hotel. Call early as availability is usually VERY limited. The NDA rooms are only blocked for the team and coaches. We do not reserve rooms for parents. Should you reserve at the hotel, you will have to make an independent reservation (not under the NDA block). Please do not ask for a room on the NDA block.There are numerous other hotels listed on the Griak website as sponsors of the event, should rooms not be available when you call. As of Sept 14 there was availability at the hotel.

Schedule: We have been assigned to the Maroon races.  Boys Race at 1:20pm and Girls Race 2:05pm.

**NDA events and awards

Distance        High School: 5,000 meters – Boys & Girls Competitions

Course Inspection:  Friday, September 22 – 2:00 to 6:00 pm and 8:00 a.m. till race time on Saturday. Course will be marked with painted lines and directional signage. Large course maps will be posted at awards stand.

Race Packets:  Pick up packets from 2:30 – 5:00 pm Friday, September 22 or 11:00 am – 2:30 pm Saturday, September 23, at the clubhouse. Packets will NOT be given out if your entry fee has not been paid!!! Please bring correct change. Each packet will include chips, race numbers, pins, and a meet program.


Meet Results: Unofficial results will be posted on the Awards Stand board, available as soon as they are tallied and recorded. Official results will be produced and available in Driving Range Building. You will also be able to obtain official results at

 Award Presentation:  Award ceremony for the Maroon and Gold competitions will be held at the Awards area. Please be on time!

Dressing Facilities: Please use your hotel rooms to dress. Shower facilities will not be provided.

Admission Fee: The University will be charging $10 entry fee for adults and $8 for students/youth/seniors (62 & above). Kids age 2 & under are free. The official Griak Invitational program can be purchased for $2.

Spectator Parking: S101 (on the corner of Cleveland and Commonwealth) and the Gortner Ave. Ramp. Shuttles will transport to the golf course. Park at your own risk on the city streets.

 Clocks:  Display clocks at mile and 3K for the High School races.

Course Description:           Rolling hills and grassy terrain the entire course. The course was measured by the shortest route from three foot off the line. In other words, the distance was measured where the athlete in front would run tangent to tangent. Each course is just over 105 meters long.

Other Important Things to Know:

  • Please have your team stay off the greens. No team tents on fairways.
  • No spectator, parent or coach may touch a runner during the course of the race

  • The National Anthem will be sung at 8:55 a.m., 12:10 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
  • The course is clearly marked in alleys-White
  • Display clocks at 1K, mile and 3K for the High School Races
  • Wear bib numbers on front.
  • Please have runners run over the chip mats – keep moving through the chute to the back
  • No dogs or other pets are allowed on the Golf Course Grounds. No bikes or wheeled vehicles (except wheelchairs and baby strollers) are allowed on the Golf Course Grounds.
  • A university vendor will be selling food and beverages to spectators and athletesNO shower facilities will be provided!
